Health Issues

You would probably realized that you are not exactly in the pink of health when you started feeling dizzy and yawning uncontrollably in the office, even though you slept 8 hours the night before. These are all symptoms that points to a sleeping disorder according to a young doctor that I have consulted yesterday. According to the good lad, this is called Obstructive Sleeping Apnea, better well known as "I-stop-breathing-while-sleeping-for-a-considerable-amount-of-time-before-breathing-again" syndrome. Now, to a simple bloke like me, I think that is kinda dangerous. Who knows if you stopped breathing permanently, never to wake up again.

Alas, the good and knowledgeable doctor said that there is nothing to worry about. "Maybe you've got some fat tissues down there that's obstructing your airways. If this happens regularly, you might want to consider further treatment and in worse cases surgery", he said, "but only after due consultation with the medical experts."

Gulp. I haven't had any kind of surgery since some good doctor stitched up my leg during an accident around 7 years ago. "No worries," he said. "It's too early to tell. For the time being, try to sleep sideways instead. This might help because it puts less pressure on the chest."

Sigh. I used to think that my body is immune and strong enough to stand anything, like forever. Turns out, Father Time is catching up with me, and soon maybe I will start seeing those white lines in my mane. I really need to take good care of my body from now onwards. I'm not getting any younger and stronger as each day passes by.

A toast to health for everyone. Cheers and happy sleeping!
