Here we go again. Another hectic day had passed today, and judging by my condition, I think I can last another round of festive celebration, another day to celebrate a festival. See, it had been a wild joy-ride, beginning with an action-packed Chinese New Year celebration for 3 consecutive days, followed by a period of silence leading up to Thaipusam. Then we picked it up again, where we had a fun. wild night out (not what you're thinkin' actually, but it was kinda wild for me) with all my 'old' friends (no offence to all my friends, but we are kinda old, eh?). I said fun, because we hadn't seen each other for quite long; I had been declining the offer to party for as long as I can remember and Mar and Don have had to be patient with me (thanks you guys, luv ya...muahahaha). But once the dam burst open, boy, do we had a lot of fun. Last night was the one of the best that I have ever had. Reminiscing the old memories of campus day, we laughed so much that I am still having the facial cramps as I am writing this. From the follies of our youth, to the indomitable spirit of those who had fallen and yet rise up again to take up the challenge and succeed, it was certainly done in the spirit of the olden days. We were, what some of the 'skeptics' and 'holy' people called bandits and rogues. Okay, maybe not bandits and rogues, but you get the drift.
Oh, and my tummy cannot stand the taste of liquor. Without being ungrateful to my hosts, I realised that perhaps I was not born for liquor but for beer. I am still traumatized by the 'lihing' back at home, and one whole day of a bad case of 'kogutan' definitely will leave a mark on you. Don't get me wrong, I think 'lihing' and I will cross path again someday, just not anytime soon. Beer is durable and I realised that it took a higher dose for me to feel high and dry. So, yes, BEER is the bees knees for me for now...
Well, I also have a new resolution of trying to stay away from the stick. Hopefully that stays, at least until the time when my friends and I hang out again.
The flurry of activities made me realized that the most important thing in your life, is indeed your friends and your circle of loved ones. Yesterday, I received the news that one of my colleagues had just passed away while driving back to her hometown. When I received the news, I was stunned. The colleague wasn't really particularly close to me, but it hit me in the head on how short our lives really are. And hence, I vowed that I would fulfill my resolution to spend more time with my loved ones and friends, because I had been pushing them away for so long. I had been missing all of them really, even without me realizing it. I am the luckiest guy in the whole earth because I have so many friends around me and I dedicate this post to all of my friends out there. Let's cherish the time we have and rock on a little bit longer.
Perhaps someday, when all of us are old, these memories will be a sweet reminder of a life that has been lived to the fullest.
I love you, guys...and gals...
